She has also made her mark with our favourite duo, Margot and Oscar Pluche from her Sac à Puces series, a collection of 15 albums co-written with Zidrou and Falzar (aka Benoît Drousie and François Dhondt).

‘Working with Zidrou and Falzar was great! Making Sac à Puces, that was amazing fun. It still makes me laugh!’ We are sitting in her garden, a cup of coffee in hand, surrounded by still-green tomato plants. ‘I wanted to start a vegetable garden like the pros. But I guess it's not my thing,’ she laughs.

The comic book 'Margot et Oscar, Jardin Secret', is opened on its first page. De Brab had put a drawing of Margot sleeping with the dog Oscar on her lap. A text reads: "Everyone deserves to sleep in his/her own bed."

Her garden is not the only thing she will put aside, though. After being by Margot and Oscar's side for so many years, she has decided to say goodbye to the duo. ‘Margot was always eight years old in Sac à Puces, but I also wanted to see her grow up,’ she says. In the latest album, Margot et Oscar, Jardin Secret, Oscar, the philosophical and homeless dog, loses his human voice to become an ordinary dog. He grows older, as does Margot, who discovers other interests. The end of the album surprised me. It revealed an unexpected facet of their relationship and provided an emotional conclusion to this saga full of tenderness and humour.

The comic book 'Le Lundi au Soleil' is opened on the same page as the one depicted on its original.

Although Carine is not afraid of a challenge, she remembers the mischief of her compatriots Zidrou and Falzar. ‘I hate drawing cars,’ she admits smiling. ‘And then in the album Le Lundi au Soleil, they suddenly had a scene with a broken car! I really tried my best, I even looked under the bonnet of a car to see how to do it!’ This famous plate, which focuses on the car, is part of the second lot to be auctioned.

Carine chose to offer unique works for our non-profit organisation Street Nurses. These three lots, full of original works and signed items, will be auctioned in memory of Luc and Marie on 13 November at Brussels Town Hall.
