2020 was for everybody a strange and difficult year but even more so for homeless people. This “lockdown year” has at least put the spotlight on the consequences of homelessness, especially in Brussels and Liège.

Hotels sometimes helped and gave homeless people a safe harbour and quality guidance. And for some, this even contributed to find durable lodgings.

This shows the fundamental nature of housing - and how essential it is for (re)constructing a life.

Here are some key data for 2020:

  • 306 people were followed by Street Nurses
  • 21182 times we took action for or with our patients
  • 74.6% of the people we follow show chronic physical health problems
  • 66.1% of people we follow suffer from mental health problems
