From 4 to 13 November 2024, the Street Nurses association, under the auspices of the Coll-Auctions auction house, is organising an exceptional comic strip auction. This hybrid event, which will take place online at Drouot.com and culminate in a special evening at Brussels City Hall on 13 November, pays tribute to Marie Gérard and Luc Louveaux, two passionate former volunteers who bequeathed their impressive collection to the charity. The sale will raise vital funds to combat the precarious situation of homeless people, while honouring their memory.
First editions and rare pieces of 9th art
This exceptional collection, made up largely of first editions in perfect or very good condition, is a real treasure trove for fans and collectors. The works on display cover a broad spectrum of 9th art, from classics to the rarest works. Marie Gérard and Luc Louveaux were true comics enthusiasts, having collected these works over many years with care and dedication. By bequeathing their collection to Street Nurses, they wished to perpetuate their commitment to the charity's cause.
At the same time, Street Nurses is actively pursuing its search for previously unpublished drawings and original plates to further increase the value of the collection. Today, nearly 30 artists, including Hermann, Philippe Geluck, François Schuiten, De Brab, Adam, Ominetti, Krings, Davoz, Jacq and many others, have already donated their art to theStreet Nurses cause.
UA charity event combining tribute and solidarity
The auction, accessible online via Drouot.com, will not only be an opportunity to acquire rare and precious items, but also a moment of commemoration for Marie Gérard and Luc Louveaux. The closing evening will be held on 13 November at the Hôtel de Ville in Brussels. This event will mark the importance of their contribution to the cause of the homeless.
All the funds raised will be donated to Street Nurses, enabling them to finance concrete actions: care, social support, access to housing and raising awareness of the situation of homeless people. Each bid represents a gesture of solidarity with the most vulnerable.
This unique event is made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Coll-Auctions auction house and the support of The Skull bookshop.
