At Street Nurses, the car is much more than a simple means of transport. Each day begins with a list of crucial medical appointments and administrative procedures.

For our patients with reduced mobility, no budget or mental health problems, the car is sometimes their gateway to essential care or very important administrative appointments. It can be a real leverage in some stagnating situations.

Our ability to be flexible is paramount: we respond to unexpected requests, help with moving, facilitate work in various housing units. This adaptability allows us to make the best of our daily work, connecting remote areas of Brussels to see several patients in a single tour, thus avoiding time-consuming trips and reducing the downtimes between each patient.

Sometimes we have to take our patients across the country for specialist consultations, turning every mile into direct action against isolation and geographical barriers.

Aside from the challenges of our supporting work, the car is also our ally in quality moments such as community meals and the traditional Christmas gift tour.

These moments strengthen the connection with our patients, reduce social isolation and remind us of the importance of our collective mission.
